I have craved a Fortis for a few years now and have just ordered myself a Spacematic GMT Automatic. I just love the simple functional design, it almost has a retro futuristic look to it (pardon the oxymoron).

Does anyone else own or appreciate Fortis watches? What do you think of them?

nice watch, imo fortis are up there with omega in terms of build quality ,as for rolex i wouldnt recommend them to anyone, they are way overpriced and the designs havent really changed over the years ,you pay for name only,a £25 seiko with a 7s26 can be regulated to keep time as well as most rolex, true they are nice in house movements but theres better quality in house watch makers such as glasshute,a lange & sohne, jaeger, vacheron, zenith, patek phililphe, breguet ,as always tho with watches there are always ppl who like specific brands and collect them so its upto the individual at the end of the day and what they like.

Scuzi

seems to be an auto but the link you sent me last night referred to it as quartz
Yeah it appears they do the same watch with two different movements. One is the automatic movement whereas the other is what they call an Eco Quartz which I believe is a quartz movement but without a battery. I found this one with the automatic and decided to go for it instead.

It's not titanium, I think it's stainless steel. They have a titanium model but it's a bit out of my price range :(

Glad you went for the Auto

Titanium is not that great a metal for watches anyway, scratches easily and is difficult to polish ( though they do self repair to some extent ) and the "lightness" often leads to a cheap and insubstantial feel

Yeah, i had an Omega X33 which was titanium and as you say scratches very easily although i now have the correct stuff for polishing Ti and the stuff i have done so far has comes up a treat.

I've seen a few Fortis watches i really like. There was a cosmanaut one that looked dead smart and they actually have one automatic that has a chrono and an alarm at a very reasonable price.

Congrats on your new purchase

Going to a dealer in Harrogate on Saturday to have a look at one of these and the Chronograph version. You still have the watch Scuzi? How you finding it?

I really like the look of the watch in the OP. How do they compare to say an Omega Seamaster?

I do indeed still have it. I wear it 7 days a week and have done since I bought it and it looks as good as new. It's solid, functional and reliable and has never let me down. I have given it quite a hard time yet it doesn't have a scratch on it.

I honestly cannot think of any bad points.
