As title, are there any games that allow mouse and keyboard for gameplay at all?

I hate using the control pad for FPS and it seems really daft that you can easily add a USB or Bluetooth mouse and keyboard but can't use them at all for games!

I really hope Sony and the game developers sort this out eventually as not only will it be a godsend to current PS3 owners coming from a PC gaming background but will also make it more tempting to new customers to have the option.

I know I'm not the only person who finds this annoying.

Just unreal 3.

If you don't enjoy using a control pad for FPS games on a console, don't buy FPS games on a console. Problem solved. ;)

I still don't think there's any need for M+K support on consoles. It's a good thing that it's not there.

True. Otherwise it would just end up being K+M vs joypad players. You'd have to filter games to which control scheme people are using. Its like playing SF4 with with a pad and having to fight someone with an arcade stick.

Tbh it isn't, mouse + kb is a HUGE advantage over pad for FPS', pad vs joystick is nowhere near as skewed.

I'm with order, keep the mouse + kb away from multiplayer console FPS'. I can't use mouse + kb on my setup and wouldn't want to. It would put me at a disadvantage to those that do and therefore ruin the experience. Of course you could filter servers but that would fracture the community.

Yes but everyone would have the choice of using the K+M lol

In many space combat sims I've always used mouse and keyboard whereas most use joysticks, they always have the advantage with turns but K+M had better accuracy.

It would just be the same with K+M v control pads, some people can use the control pads really well for FPS, years ago when I had the original PSX it wasn't a problem as that was all I was playing but now as I play BF2 and various other FPS on the PC I can't get on with pads for that type of game.

I'd like to game more on the PS3 so I don't have to keep upgrading graphics cards etc all the time but as there is no real K+M support I'm limited on what I can play on it to mainly driving games etc

Hell, even if they make it so that K+M can be used in single player on PS3 I'd be happy!

Edit:
Fallout 3 I quite like on the PS3 as it has the V.A.T.S aiming system at least, are there other games that have something similar?

not the same ;)

and to stay on topic, ut3 is the only ps3 game that supports k+m and it does so poorly - input lag, splits the community, lack of servers that allow it.... you may as well just play it on the pc.

if you want to play console fps then you are just going to have to get used to the pad.

Not everyone wants to sit at a desk to play games on a console (and don't even try to claim you can sit in a sofa with a M+K comfortably).

I don't get people that say they can't use a pad for games. Plenty of people manage it. Just practice.

For other losers like myself and the OP you can get an adapter to allow PC m/kb on most games. PS3Predator is the name of the pre-built one I bought from PS3 gamers in Berlin. Ones with some website & soldering skills! If you know what you're doing you could build one. There are a few sites out there that explain the setup for XIM360 based kit with PS2>PS3 adapter and a USB toolstick. XIM software is free as well.

I posted on another thread my reasons for getting it, suffice to say I'm not a 'cheat'. I finally bought an FPS exclusive for console in BF:Bad Company and really enjoyed it. Was a struggle on gamepad. Worth €99+€7 del + £20 for the game? Probably not but in the long run it allows me to have a proper go at console exclusives.

Needs the PS3 and PC close to each other. Gamepad players can still easily out-gun keyboard players if I'm anything to go by. ;) People adapt to what suits them.

Your point is?

I said everyone would have the choice to use K+M or gamepad not that they would have to use or should use K+M, if you prefer using a gamepad for FPS that's good for you I however can't stand it and I know quite a few others who would love the option of K+M.

They should at least make the option available to those who want it.

what will happen is that the keyboard+mouse players will completely muller the pad players... it is a HUGE advantage.

the other option is to do it ut3 style and seperate the players but thats not a good solution really since it splits the community.

My point is that it would completely unbalance any multiplayer aspect of a game against any one that still uses a pad.

Why ruin a game for the portion of it's community that can and want to play it with a pad, just so that people that can't be bothered to adapt can use a M+K?

TBH, i can't use a controller to save my life! i've had my ps3 for about a year and probably only played it for a whole day (24 hours), mainly because i suck with the pad. I think they should add keyboard and mouse support.... at least then people have a choice if they have a *shyza* pc to use the M+KB for the ps3 (no lag).
I know plenty of people that still use a pad to play cod 4/5 for the pc and they own like mad! So if you are a master with the pad then *no* you wont get mullered.
Well I've tried so hard to adapt it just doesnt work and it kills my thumb! all that moving around with the analog (dunno why, lol)

*yes* you will. A mouse is faster than a joystick, you can spin 180 degrees instantly, aiming is more accurate. A decent mouse + kb player will always kick the living daylights out of a good pad player. I'm pretty decent with a mouse + kb (got around 3 years of highish-clanned TFC under my belt) and know i haven't played anyone online on a console who would have been able to have a chance against me if i was using mouse + kb. But i don't want to, even though i suck with a pad. Why? Because it would be unfair. Everyone is stuck with a pad in shooters on the console so we all suffer the same handicap. Why unbalance things and/or fracture the community? Unreal Tournament 3 has proven it doesn't work.

What i wouldn't mind is if they added mouse + kb support to the single player part of the game. At least then those who can't/won't adapt can still play a portion of the game with their chosen input device.

As I said above as well, if it was just in single player I'd be happy.

It's times like this why I miss the good old Dreamcast days. At least every FPS game on that console had keyboard and mouse controls as optional. Even with the official Dreamcast mouse was kind of crap, the point is it works!
