Any games out there as good as XCOM2?

Been feeling the urge to play a game like xcom2 (with all dlc) but can't play it yet again - need something new

Been playing Phantom Doctrine but it's not the same

Any recommendations for me to consider please?

I've tried the first level of Xenonauts but the graphics are too old for me and it doesn't engage me - is it really that good?

Take a peek at battle tech. It’s not the same entirely with mechs and all, but there is a very similar level of play. As someone who loves XCOM really enjoyed it too. The main campaign is not massively long but a blast none the less with large DLC out next week for it.

Wasn't there some game from the Gollop (Brothers? - the OG developers of XCOM) that was essentially a horror version of XCOM that was supposed to be out soon/already? Might want to give that a spin maybe.

Good shout.

It's called Phoenix point.

Blurb:

"Phoenix Point is the new strategy game from Julian Gollop, the designer of the original X-COM series. Our crowdfunding campaign was launched on fig.co on April 25th, 2017 and we reached our $500,000 goal in less than a week. The game has been in development for a year, and is due to be released in Q4 2018.

“Phoenix Point Is The Fusion Of XCOM And Fallout We All Want” - Logan Booker, Kotaku

“Phoenix Point promises to recapture the spirit of his original series” - Chris Bratt, Eurogamer

“With its inter-faction diplomacy and strategic simulation, Phoenix Point excites me far more than a more direct attempt to tap into the memory of X-COM would have done” - Adam Smith, Rock, Paper, Shotgun"

I'm looking forward to reviews for Mutant - Year Zero when it drops in ten days or so. Not exactly the same as the XCOM formula, as there's real-time stealth and exploration elements. But these give way to turn-based combat when enemies are engaged. Looks promising, but won't get my hopes up too much. I did that for Phantom Doctrine which I found disappointing.

Divinity 2 perhaps?

I dabbled in Divinity 1 but it also didn't grab me - is 2 better? I know it gets good reviews but I need to be in the mood for an epic rpg (unless its The Witcher or Mass Effect - they're awesome rpg's)

Mutant - Year Zero looks promising I'll read up on it thanks for the suggestion

So far the list of games not released that I'm keeping an eye out for are:

Medieval Mayor - tba
Mech warrior 5 – 2019
Phoenix point – 2019 (xcom style game)
Phantom Brigade – 2019 (mech xcom style game)
industries of titan – 2019 (futuristic city builder)
Tropico 6 – 2019
Anno 1800 – dec 2018
Cyberpunk 2077 – mid 2019
Xenonauts 2 – dec 2018 (xcom style game)
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden – dec 2018 (xcom style game)
Gears tactics – 2019 (xcom style game)
beyond good and evil 2 – 2019 (action adventure)
Warcraft 3 reforged - 2019
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (ps4)
Last of us enhanced (ps4)

I guess looking at that list I was hoping for something I hadn't heard of before and is available to play now

Note: I don't get much free time but the time I do get to game I take advantage of it

I saw a streamer looking at this and it grabbed my attention. I didn't note the name, but the duck, i remember the duck. And a pig? Is there a pig as well?

Well I just finished that game. I loved it. Want my type of game either. But it did deserve the accolades it's received.

I've not played xcom2 but I imagine the turn based fighting is similar.

It's a big game tho. Took me 96hrs.

Not the trailer i saw but definitely the same game.

It isn't really like xcom (I've played the deluxe pre-order demo). It's more linear and hand-crafted than X-com, I'd say it's more akin to Divinity in that it is a free-roam RPG with Xcom style turn based combat. Devs have said it's a 15-20 hour game (I doubt there is much in the way of replayability). Whilst I enjoyed what I played I don't think it is quite what the OP was looking for.
