Hi all,

Maybe a game is the wrong word..is there any software out there were you can make small changes to things and just watch your civilisation just develop?

I know there's spore but you really control it, then there's the game where you control the environment but I'm after something more like watching an ant farm and now and again I can do something.

Sim City, but they build it themselves kind of thing.

They might be a bit old but the only games I can think of at 2.37am are Black and White and Black and White 2.

Black and White were great games, although the AI was very over hyped for what it was.

That game did require a fair amount of interaction though, I was hoping for something more autonomous, I'm a lazy god. ;)

Sim Ant was kind of fun at the time, not even sure it would run now if I could find a copy. :(

The Settlers series are very good for this - once your town is developed you just sit back and watch them potter around chopping down trees, making bread etc.

The Anno series could be another - heavy micromanagement at the start but once you're up and running (in a custom no-enemies game, ideally) you can just survey your vast empire of serfs, and zoom right down and follow individual people around if you like.

could play plague inc. ....kinda the opposite in the respect that you make small changes to try and wipe out the population :p but entertaining none the less! :D :p

only thing that springs to mind is B&W as already mentioned :)

well Transport Tycoon you could sort of bodge what you want to do. In that game you get a pile of cash and have to compete to build a transport network among small towns, cities and industry. As you develop your transport network, the cities grow as you transport goods and people to them.

You could play the entire game just letting the computer control competitors and watch them develop the cities, or you could mess around and build small bits of road and watch the city develop along that road.

I like it as a sandbox game and usually have no competitors, just build intricate rail networks.

Godus on Steam, early access....

is awful - please, if you're tempted by the concept, see it on Steam or see it mentioned in this thread then ignore it. Unless you like crap pseudo-games where all you do is flatten land, click 100s of times to collect 'belief', to flatten more land to click 100s of times to collect 'belief', to flatten....etc etc that is.

Oh dear god yes, please everyone avoid. It's like a simplified tablet game on PC.

My 3 year old even hates it after 5 mins. It had huge potential but is ultimately bloody awful.
