Hi All,

My contract ran out with orange on the 28th Nov.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good EE retentions deal.

I've spoken to them a few times and all I get is discount on the handset, which are priced up very high to start with. They refuse to discount the tariff price or match anyone else offer.
I've been with orange for 10 years and I've built up a ongoing discount in that time which they have now cancelled.

The offer prices also go up if I phone back later for it.

In basic i would be starting as a new customer.

I don't know if its because of the black Friday offers they not interested but I was getting a much better service with orange even with only 3g.

Could anyone give me some advice.
Which other network are good with good service?

I've always found that I got MUCH better offers if I hassled them for a deal 2-3 months after my contract finished

I've given up trying to get a deal out of EE... went straight to CPW this time, the upgrade process (already on EE) was as easy as going through them directly and I effetively beat their "very best sir we promise" tariff offer by £5 per month and got a handset they wanted £99 upfront for, for free. The salesman in CPW even threw in a £20 official case I was going to buy anyway.

Utterly hassle free, cheaper and from my perspective there is no difference other than my handset is unlocked and I return it to CPW for the first 30 days instead of EE (straight back to Samsung after that anyway).

I honestly cant say what EE's business model is, but it certainly isn't one designed to retain customers (other than through third party companies perhaps?)

I see absolutely no point in going direct to the operator for contracts these days they can rarely even get within a mile of deals you can pick up at places like mobiles.co.uk and that's before you take into account and sort of cashback or other sweeteners.

If you speak to EE directly, ask for their disconnections department rather than upgrades. Disconnections often offer more and have better flexibility.

Tell them you want to cancel and move elsewhere and watch them suddenly change and reduce the price for you

Didn't work for me either last time or this time...

Both times I have readily found my PAC code being sent to me. Last time I went to Phone4U after that and bettered their deal easily and this time CPW. Of course there are even better deals through online only services I just wanted the convenience of going to a store.

Literally the only reason EE still have me as a customer is their network works best for me in my office (others on o2 or 3 struggle) and both times a third party reseller has managed to offer me a deal that makes their network competitive.

All I can assume is that they are making more money through resellers than they would by offering enticing discounts to current customers directly...

Gah I've completely forgotten it but there's a shortcode you can dial from a phone to find out what band of customer you are and from that you get band X discount - anyone remember it?

You can typically phone up, ask for PAC, wait a few days and they will call you back. The "take now or the offer is worse" line is put in by the Orange old system - you can ignore that, they typically won't hold the line (at least in my personal experience). You can probably get a better retentions deal through CPW anyway so double check there.

I've tried speaking to the retentions team, everything I speak to them the price changes. I was able to get a free handset once and when I called to confirm they put the prices.

So I don't know if requesting a PAC would help, unless I get a new contract with someone else like vodafone or o2.

I also went to CPW, went in told them I seen it for £30 a month on their website (I hadn't, but thought it might work) and straight away with no arguing dropped the contract by nearly £10 with the handset I wanted.

Well worth going instore IMO.
