at title really , are there any good free mmorpg's? i have been tempted to get LOTR but not quite sure , the last mmo i played (for about a week was TR( Tabula Rasa) And before that was WoW

I have tried a lot and can point out their is a lot of Crap out their and the only way you are going to get Great content in an MMORPG is by paying for it, Conan is out soon and i would fair out and wait (if you are willing to). It will be payable but from what i have heared it will be worth the wait.

Most free MMORPG games at the moment are just grindfests and get boring very quickly.Guild Wars is worth a shot even though you only pay for the game the time is free.

As above, mmorpg is the place to keep abreast of the available games. The micro-payment model is becoming increasingly popular, both with punters and publishers, so expect to see more and more 'free' games coming our way.
Lotro is a very pretty and enjoyable game to play through once. It has practically no replay incentive at all. After all the repetitive grinding of most other MMO's I am really enjoying Tabula Rasa and it's frenetic combat and have done around 6 months in game.
If you fancy something a little different and a lot of fun, then City Of Heroes is cheap and good for a few months of play, but buy it through plaync to get the USA version of the game which is much better populated than the euro-game. It is looking a little long in the tooth now, but has really fun and interesting combat and an excellent mix of classes to encourage teaming etc.
If it has to be free, my mates are liking Exteel, a 3rd-person mech-style game and one or two of them are playing dungeon-runner which is a little like an mmo Diablo2 with a sense of humor.

How do you find Tabula Rasa. I played the 3 day trial and after playing online games for over 10 years found it to be fun and hectic!, but never found anyone i know playing it.

But its one of the few games im tempted to buy when shops sell it for less than £29.99.

In the land of MMO's free and good do not go together. Most free ones are all the same, and get very boring and repetitive after a week.

There is a thread like this every few weeks and everyone's answer is always the same.

Free and MMO do not mix. You get what you pay for. Pay for nothing and you get crap :)

I tried playing Dungeon Runners a few weeks ago, it was ok as a free MMORPG, probably one of the better ones in fact - but it really doesn't compare to a decent pay to play one. After playing WOW I found it really hard to adjust to it's simplicity and shallowness. Probably worth a crack if you're bored but don't expect too much, if you like dungeon crawly games like Dungeon Siege then it will probably appeal to you.

I'm currently playing fiesta...

I like it, other people's opinions may vary. Doesn't seem to attract half the idiots that many other mmorpg's do. Has a cash shop where you can buy interesting (but certainly not essential) things to improve your character.

Well guys i see what you mean by free and mmo :/ lol i spent mostly all day & night downloading free mmo's the main two where , Anarchy online and one called GunZ.

As i love si-fi and read in to it via ^ link above , and found GunZ via mmorpg website it just looked intresting.

I was trying to pass the time waiting for Age of conan, i dont mind paying at all but we all have our limits of £ :P

Edit:

Thanks Trescodrucey - ill look in to that i think its closed beta atm tho

I loved tabula rasa, completely unlike any of the other mmo's out there, much more hectic and fast paced. Kind of lost interest after getting a few characters into their 30's, but it was fun while it lasted. Not free though :p

LOTRO has a much cheaper sub than most mmo's, think I'm paying €45 every six months, which is amazing value for such a polished game with so much content. Any of the free stuff I've tried has been pretty rubbish, or requires you to spend RL money in item shops to progress anyway.
