i want to make some time lapse vids. Are there any good free programs for this for windows?

Even VirtualDub could do it

MEncoder could do it, but it itself is command line based with separate GUIs for it.
Handbrake, MediaCoder and such tools with lots of features might be likely able to do it.
Best would be to use something capable to H.264 compression
