AvP, the first one.

It's not horror, but it will make you need to change your underwear.
Pretty much the most on-the-edge-of-you-seat game, when you play as a marine..

I can remember literallly wetting myself and running out of ammo shooting a lift door after it went off on my tracker. AVP2 single player has nothing on it.

Condemned, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (The hotel level was the best for me also), FEAR and Doom 3 for the jump factor and finally Farenheit just for the sake of it altho I realise it aint horror - just thrillerish but such an underated game in my humble opinion. There is a killer level in one of the Thief games which will have you in tears called "the cradle" .

Definitely. Multiplayer also scared the bajesus out of me.

Especially if you're playing as an Alien with a Predator stalking you

Haha I know this is a PC forum, but get yourself a Gamecube and Eternal Darkness on the cheap. Far, far, far and away the best horror game I've ever played.

yea me too! i remember first playing it and i didnt know how to adjust the brightness so it was almost pitch black everywhere... :eek:
