Love C&C tiberium wars, starcraft 2, company of heroes.

Got warhammer 40,000 dawn of war along with company of heroes but never installed it, it worth trying ?

would also consider red alert 3, but i heard theres lots of spyware, malware on it etc, would it be worth buying ?

are some of the older classics like red alert 2 compatible with windows 7 ?

any other good RTS games im missing ?

thanks for any help

Dawn of War (original, never liked no 2 much) is great and well worth a play. Never had any issues with my Red Alert 3 on Steam. RA2 will work on Windows 7. As for other RTS's you've covered the main ones really that are worth playing. You could look into Dawn of War 2 as it might grab you.

DOW1 was great DOW2 was good too but smaller scale and different... Still enjoyed it a fair bit. Less select all units and attack bad guy. COH is fantastic

Empire/Napoleon TW or Shogun 2 can suck up hours as well.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance.

also really enjoying World in Conflict at the moment. No base building and resource collection though.

Company of heroes is great rts, its very different than warhammer 40k and C&C if you enjoy that type of style then I think you would like Warhammer DW2

I would also recommend these :
C&C 3
Starcraft 2
Men at war series

DoW is great, graphics may be a bit dated but its a good game the 2nd is very different and not for everyone but it plays a little like CoH. I personnaly thought RA3 had nothing on RA2 so wouldn't bother.

This must be the game protection it uses, I think its SecuRom where there was a big debate at the time.

Anyhow other suggestions would be:

World in conflict
Age of Empires games
Age of Mythology

No RA3 is NOT worth buying or investing any time on.

I did complete the single player campaign to try and get some of my moneys worth, it was totally unchallenging and I waltzed through it, I'm usually rubbish at rts.

Went on multiplayer once, this guy rushed me with this spider unit that zapped my units energy, I didn't have a clue what was going on or how to counter attack. Never, ever again.

noob :p

I quitelike RA 3. It's a very different game from RA2. Resources feel a bit more important. Cause you have to cap locations rather than letting your trucks wonder around. With much more micromanagement, the game can get very complex :p

I recently pld through Homeworld 2 again and although it's not a recent game I still think it holds its own against newer games, especially when pld at new-age resolutions.

Anyone tried Anomaly? It's sitting in my Steam library atm, haven't got round to installing it yet and I'm wondering whether to bother.

One that's not recent but I never see mentioned anywhere is Imperium Galactica 2. I played that game to death, serious stuff (my disk's knackered now though :()
