any good snooker games on pc?

I duno about a computer game of pool or snooker as for me the fun is in using the cue and trying to get the good shot off now and then. With a mouse or somit it just wont be anywhere near as fun imo. I think there is a mini 1 foot cue for these games but thats not gona help it has to be full length i reckon for it to work.

It is like any sports game on a computer I guess, your not playing the "Sport" simply an electronic simulation of it and is completely different to the "actual" sport.

I guess it depends how well the electronic version transfers across I guess.

I preferred VPH over VP3 for its cleaner menus (even if it was limited to 16bit colour), but the former started flickering on more recent NVidia cards - never did find a cure.

But as above, other sims can't touch them - Celeris got the physics/controls right a decade ago.

Will the mouse simulate the cue action for this years WSC ?

If it doesn't then what is the point in releasing it for the pc.

VP will always be supreme as it has such an advantage with regard to the mouse action.

It is just utter crap using a power bar thingy to simulate shots ...

Has anyone checked out the Flyordie game? They implement the mouse cue pretty well. You can only play in a small window if you don't subscribe though.

In terms of the pure gameplay it is hard to beat VP3, because snooker isn't the sort of game you can 'improve' on - you can get better graphics, add some extras, fancy FMV/tournaments/trickshot modes etc, but the basic game mechanics have to remain the same (unlike traditional computer games like FPS, RTS etc). It's hard to find (major) faults in the physics implementation which of course is the heart of any pool/snooker game.

Only issue I have really is that it feels slightly biased in favour of power shots, i.e. I find powerful stun/screw shots a lot easier than they should be, whereas gentle shots where you just want to roll the ball into the pocket from a distance are quite hard to judge.

check out quicksnooker if you are looking for a fast, no-nonsense game, it also offers 9ball, pool and other games. its the not the most graphically, well its top down, but worth a look, has online and lan play too :p

HAA

That looks awesome.

Reminds me of Steve Davis Snooker on the PSectrum.
