I agree with lots of the suggestion sin this thread

sadly many of them are a good few years old - I'm trying to think of more modern alternatives but cant.

ARMA 2? With the right mission and ACE mod

I just done one myself with a friend, 250+ AI in Fallujah city, just us two heading north for a few KM to assassinate a commander, was quite challenging.

hoping to be playing arma 2 again... but my crappy cpu and gpu can only just play it on single player.. multiplayer is outta the question hahaha

Another vote for the hitman games, though i did play the PS2 versions.

Also recommend the Stalker games. A bit more thought is needed to survive than your average run and gun FPS which definitely adds to the series for me.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2? Not so much stealth based but a good game to play nonetheless. I'm not sure what the MP is like on PC though.
