any good tutorials for access? + join 2 fields?

im a noob to access to am in need of good tutorials, video or text doens't matter either way, can anyone reccomend any?

also need some help with what i am doing at the moment in access. I have a table called supplier and 2 of the fields are called supplier name and supplier number. The user inputs the name but i want access to generate the number based on the name, wanting first 4 digits, plus either a random number or maybe just an auto number so that there is never 2 with same number.

how do i go about setting this up? like i haven't even a clue where i'd put the code needed for this so it applys to the supplier number field if that makes sense.
