Ive around 46 running at the minute (why the hell are there about 12 svchost.exe's running??). Just wondering are there any proper guides as to whats safe to disable and whats not?

I too was contemplating cutting down of the whopping processes Vista has (I had 28 in XP) while I didnt actually cut them down, its like Vista knew my intentions and activated a defence mechanism which led me to reinstall Vista after 2 days of operation, now im back up and running im trying my best not to upset it, and I already nearly failed after 2 hours or so of a fresh install.

Tread carefully is all I can say and make a restore point manually before you play, and if anyone that hasnt installed Vista yet and plans to reads this, I highly suggest the 1st thing you do on your 1st time on Desktop is to make a restore point :)

i found that disabling the Aero feature (Desktop Window Manager Session Manager) saves u around 30 megs of ram

ummm... why bother buying 2GB if you care about something that's less than 2% of it and makes the experience much better (Imho)
