my system is a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.3GHz 4gb ddr2 ram ati 5830 video card 1tb hard disk and windows 7 64bit.

I can only play crysis on low settings and when i try medium it blue screens after a min or so. when i check optimal settings for you system it tells me i can run it on high?

help much appreciated :cool::cool::cool:

If its crysis 1 then i played that on an e8400 and a 260 gtx on medium settings. high settings was a bit too much for the graphics card.

If you look around the net you may find that you only need a decent graphics card as an e8400 is ok at high ish resolutions. 1920x1080 or 1920x1200, depends on how much you got to spend really.

A 7950 is £229 from here on offer and although its overkill ay least you could play the game at very high settings.

Alright guys no need to be so blunt. :D

You really need to get a quad core processor. As a cheap upgrade you could get a second hand Q6600 and overclock it and then get a decent ish graphics card like the 7850 or 7870.

Although a Q6600 will become a bottleneck in some games it can still hold its own and would provide a substantial upgrade for you when coupled with a new graphics card.

Alternatively, you're looking at a whole new build. Ask in General Hardware.

My Wifes crappy computer can play Crysis 1 and it has a E chip and a 8800GT. It is all down to what res/settings you want. For a decent system, you need to upgrade the CPU/GPU/Memory.

I agree but he only wants to play the game higher than the lowest settings.

If i had a spare power supply for my old e8400 system i would put this 670 gtx in it to see how good it ran games, I have always been curios to see how well the e8400 @ 3.6hgz ran new games on maximum details @ 1920x1200.

But alas i have no power.

You might want to put 'wife's' before 'crappy'. It'll read better if she sees your wording. :D

You never know when you'll want a new upgrade. :D
