My house has a burgalar alarm, it's Eurosec CP8L. It was already installed when we moved in and we were told the user code which is the default, I'm not sure if the master code is also default. We haven't really used the alarm.

Today I wanted to replace an outdoor light on the front of the house, I switched off the breaker for the lighting circuit and within a few seconds I could hear the alam siren, when I switch back on the siren stops. I also noticed the kepad is off during the power outage.

I found the control panel and the 12v backup battery is dead. Do I need to replace this battery and use the control panel to reset the siren?

Anything else I can do? The siren must have it's own backup battery.

Edit - I also waited a minute to see if it times out, but it was still sounding. I don't want to annoy my neighbours.

Did you try and open the panel up ?

Alarm bell boxes are designed to go off if the power is cut and there is still a backup battery present in the control panel or if someone tries to open the control panel which will trip the tamper alarm.
Yes, opening the control panel and the central connection box made it go into tamper mode, I could stop that though. The 12v 7AH backup battery was down to 4v, replacing that has topped the siren from sounding when I cut the power.
