Any HP ZR24w owners in Mid/East Sussex area that could give a demo?

After 2 unsuccessful attempts at moving to a 24" monitor from my Viewsonic VX2025WM, I've decided that I must try a monitor before I buy!

The HP ZR24w looks, on paper, like a good choice, so I was wondering if there were any owners in Sussex that might be prepared to give me a demo?

I can bring chocolate or beer, your choice.

I think it would be a lot less hassle for both parties if you just buy the monitor and become aware of your rights under DSR (Distance Selling Regulations). You can effectively 'try before you buy' and if you don't like it - alert the retailer within the first week and they are legally obliged to issue a refund.

Anyone got an idea how long these will still be available as I had heard talk of them being discontinued? They are currently top of my list for 24" 16:10 IPS, especially for the price...

I don't think there's any imminent danger of the ZR24W disappearing - a couple of months ago it was harder to track down than hen's teeth, but now it seems to be back in stock in comfortable numbers at all the usual suspects.

No idea what caused the supply glitch - I did wonder if it had been EOL'ed, but I guess that's not the case.

Hmmm, that's a good point. My two concerns there are:

1. I have to pay to return it, which will be expensive.
2. Not all companies accept their DSR obligations straightaway, which means potentially arguing about restocking fees and other nonsense.

They could indeed charge to have it collected or for you to send it back - but it won't cost more than a few beers. They aren't legally able to charge restocking fees so don't worry about them. If they do try to give you the runaround know the appropriate part of the legislation that specifically refers to that 'illegal practice'. I can quote and explain the relevent sections on the unlikely event it's required.

Well, the return costs should be less than £20, which is probably less than the cost of petrol/beer/chocolate you were originally envisaging (many retailers will arrange collection for considerably less anyway).

There's really nothing to argue about, the DSRs are very clear - the vast majority of retailers recognise this and won't give you any trouble (even though their published T&Cs often seem to interpret the DSRs in a rather creative fashion).

One or two less scrupulous retailers might decide to play silly ******s - in such cases, don't enter into a protracted debate, just be assertive and let them know you're aware of your statutory rights. They haven't a leg to stand on and they know it. :)
