please delete this topic, sorry

in a lot of games i get a tiny ammount of stuttering, its as if the game will be running perfectly at a high framerate but every so often it will skip a few frames and its really bugging me
it happens more in some games than others, the witcher and sins of a solar empire have it badly but in x3 its hardly noticable

also it doesnt seem to happen atall in some other games

i have ruled out the graphics card, hard drive, motherboard & processor because each of them has been changed since i originaly started having the problem

im thinking that now it either has to be ram or power supply but memtest didnt report any problems with the memory & i have no way to test my psu

here is my system

Windows Vista ultimate64
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 (also tried a Q6600)
Nvidia GTX295 (also tried a GTX280)
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX
Asus P5Q Deluxe (also tried a Abit IP35)
Corsair HX 620W Psu
500gig Maxtor SATA (recently installed after my old HDD gave up the ghost)
300gig Maxtor SATA

i have also tried it with and without a SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio installed to i know that the sound isnt a issue

i run it all at stock speeds, all my drivers have been updated on a regular basis and my temps seem to be fine

i run all my games at 1680 by 1050

any ideas?

i just realised that maybe this would be better in the hardware section so ill repost there and maybe a mod will delete this for me, sorry about that :p

thanks for the replies :) i have tried running games on a fresh install of vista and win7 (only basic drivers installed) but the problem was still there so i dont think its anything to do with programs running

i also noticed that it happens a lot less with windows 7 than vista, also i have tried it on both my old 120gig and the new 500gig with the same thing :(

as for things plugged in all i am using is my mouse, keyboard and a charging cradle for the wii remote so ill take that out and see if there is any change

well after removing the wii charging cradle i think the problem might have gone away :)
i have only tried x3 so far so i cant be sure but its looking good
