Any Idea What thi is a Picture of?

A work mate sent me this picture from a sheltered housing scheme. Th manager asked him if he could identify this.....


Any idea. Couldn't tell you if there are any markings on it other than what can be seen in this picture.

Gas/ventilation audible / sounder of some sort?

yea google lens suggests it could be a remote siren, which probably makes sense since its sheltered housing.
shouldn't the manager already know that though

It's probably a disused device from years ago. It looks old. My guess is the manager just wants to know what it might have been used for and be sure it can be removed.
