I've tried looking everywhere and no dice. It on the floor and looking for a replacement. Doesn't have to be the same size/design.

Old school desk ink well cover - You don't say how big it is.

If it's a foot in diam ignore my guess :D
 
From my guesstimation of size (from the grain on the wood) I'm going to say its a cover for a key hole. :)
 
I'm sure we had something like those in our school hall, they're for covering shallow holes which are used to put some kind of pole in...

They're for covering the holes you put the poles for tennis/badminton nets in, what do i win? :p

Double edit: I guess they could be used for queue barriers or such in theatres - maybe more likely in your case given the slightly antique look
