*wall of text warning*
ever since i had the computer in my sig there was slight screen tearing in games which pushed the graphics card (ie, where 30FPS was the average). however, it has got to the point where i am getting really irritated by it. it has also become a lot worse recently, sometimes tearing diring very simple animations such as the 'ripple' effect on the EA games introduction screen on the crysis demo, and also when scrolling on a large picture
it has happened with all the drivers i have tried, including the ones released by nvidia yesterday. every time i install drivers i do the clean install option. i have an overclocked profile for the graphics card saved in MSI afterburner, but i rarely use it (the screen tearing occurs when the card is at standard clocks). the temperatures of the card are perfectly fine, and dont seem to be the cause of the screen tearing, as the screen tearing occurs when the card is as low as 65C
i have tried running checkdisk (i forget the abbreviation used) as suggested by someone else when i said it seemed that my drivers were being a pain, and everything seems OK. however, i have no idea what these results mean:
- 2 EA records processed
- 90 Reparse records processed
i am using the DVI output of my graphics card, and am using an old DVI to VGA cable to connect it to my TV.
what i have left to try is:
- use a different cable
- use a different output for the graphics card (it has 2 DVI outputs)
- use a different monitor
- install windows 7 service pack 1, and a couple of updates that are available
has anyone got any ideas what i could try to stop this screen tearing?
*tl/dr*
i have screen tearing issues. i have tried most of the obvious, has anyone got any bright ideas that will cure the screen teraing?
