any ideas on this problem?

well about 3weeks ago i was having problems with my pc where it would freeze when in games or watching movies or generally just browsing the web i figured it was old age and a few friends suggested cpu over heating etc.

I decided to upgrade i bought a z77 setup threw overclockers and built it myself

gigabyte z77x-d3h
intel i5-3570k
corsair vengance 1600mzh 8gig
cooler master hyper 612s
ocz agility 60gb ssd
windows 7 home premium 64bit

I never upgraded my gphx card or psu since i didnt have enough money
im using nvidia gts250 and power supply is 600w*make is serena* bought from a local shop a year or so ago when my last one died.

so after upgrading im still getting the same issue with the freezing the computer doesnt restart or anything and will catch up about 30seconds later and continue. also the when in games the monitor will go black but the power light is still green and i still hear sounds and when watching videos it doesnt go black just stops and the sound starts looping.checked internet connection speeds are normal no spikes at all temps dont seem over high. cpu is around 35c idle and max 60c while gaming.
graphics card hits around 80c during gaming.

does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this problem? iv not overclocked anything its all at stock speeds pc doesnt feel hot can feel cold air being blown out from the sides and rear of the maching.

One thing I would look at is the PSU.

Purchase a quality branded one from XFX, Corsair, Antec amd OCZ to name a few.

Maybe its the GFX or the PSU. Try to run the computer with the intel HD4000.

i had intended on upgrading both at the end of the month anyways but i was just wondering if it could be anything else

I would say the same, if your pc doesnt freeze thrn you need a new graphics card I already think it is the graphics card as if it was the psu your computer eould just cut out completely and not just freeze

Had a problem a bit like yours the other day while watching Netflix, video would freeze but sound would continue, also had a bit of time lag trying to get out of Chrome.

Anyway, i solved my problem by changing power options from power saver, to High performance.
It may not solve your probs but its worth a try before splashing the cash.

I would upgrade the PSU first.

If its the one i just googled, i don't think i would have installed it in the first place.

What GPU are you thinking of getting?

more than likely a 580 or a 7850 im not sure yet.

iv changed the power saver option to high performance and still having the same issue sadly so il be upgrading both at end of the month il just have to put up with it for aabit longer

580's or 7850's

As said before, take out your graphics card and use onboard video card, see if problem goes away...
