Any ideas to reduce window fog??

Hey all just looking for some ideas/suggestions to help reduce or stop the front window misting up.

The problem is the the heater blower has stopped in the girlfriends Peugeot 307, had a look on the net which seems to suggest the rheostat needs replacing and peugeot dealers apparently quote over £500 for a £30 part :/ but seems not too bad so I'm going to take a look at it when we have a sunny day :)


But for now it's a nightmare waiting for it to demist with the windows down especially when it's cold... Which in Wales is a lot!!!

so any ideas how to help?
 
Used to be able to get some anti-mist spray from motoring shops, just spray it on and polish it off, it does help to reduce the condensation, or it reduces the droplet size so you can still see. Does tend to add a film to the glass causing light to 'haze' a bit, but I don't even know if you can still get it.

I guess the heater rheostst is a nightmare to get at, hence the high dealer price.
 
yeah u can get anti fog gel,, i use it, have to re apply about twice a year works well
 
an old scuba diving trick. spit on the window and wipe it rond if you have no anti steam spray.

also did you know if you use air con and heat ul get dry hot air not hot moist air?
 
also, get something to dry the car out on the inside, like a dehumidifier tub or a old sock full of rice.
 
I bought some Gel moisturer absorber sachets from Wilko for about £4. You just put them under your seat in your car, i haven't experienced any misting up since :)
 
As a cheap alternative you could use shaving foam on the windows, I put this on the bathroom mirror when I shave (wipe on wipe off style) and it stops all the misting.
 
I had the exact same issue with my 307.

It was due to a small £15 resister blowing which is very common also really easy to replace, Take the glove box out and you can get to it, Unclip old resister and add a new one and all is sorted 30 min's work max (assuming this is the issue that is)

Guessing that means that it's a **** to access?

I've heard that rice in a sock can help, but I don't know if that's just for reducing damp etc in a car that is sat still as opposed to reducing window fog but it's probably worth a try.

yea that's what we are planning to do :) was it really that simple to get to? pretty sure that's the part that's done as the fuse is fine but need to get in there to test if its the motor or the rheostat.

bought some fog clear from halfords.. £6 for it but loads in the bottle so gunna last a while :D applied it earlier, just gotta wait to pick up the gf later so she can try driving her car home but it still seems clean and a lot cleaner to see through *fingers crossed*
