i read in some magazines last year that USB 3.0 will be in hardware early 2010, although i cant find anything definite.

just wondered if anyone had heard anything? i want to buy a netbook and a new mobo for a new build but i was hoping by feb/march i could get ahold of some USB 3.0 hardware but i cant find anything.

just wondered if anyone knew anything? has it been delayed again? still on course for a 2010 release?

anyway, im starting to get itchy feet... i guess the mobo isnt much an issue as i could buy a controller card in the future but the netbook would be handy with usb 3.0.... not sure if i can wait any longer!

I doubt you'll see a Netbook with USB3 until there's chipset support, so at least 6 months. It's not supported in the current chipsets and the additional controller chip would require a space on the motherboard and use extra power.

PCs is less of a problem as the controller can be bolted onto the next revision of the board. By the time AMD/Intel/nVidia release the next gen of chipsets they'll get integrated onboard.

USB 3 isn't on the chipset - it uses the existing IO hub from the P55. With it being Gigabyte they've probably added an extra NEC chip.
