Hi, I can't see this in here already so here goes :)

I've started installing Windows 7 on my main machine, and every time it gets to "starting services" (after it's done the main install) it's crashing with a blue screen and a c00000021a message.

Any ideas? (the machine was rock solid under vista).

It's running on an Asus P5K Premium/Wifi
with ATI 3870 series card
2x2gb of crucial ddr2 800 ram

I've disabled the onboard firewire, and wireless networking, and removed the normal creative card that I use for primary sound.

Are you upgrading from xp?
I had a similar when upgrading, problem was my monitor wasnt compatible.
It would boot up into win 7 using the VGA connection but not the DVI. Monitor was not Vista/win 7 certified the monitor was a AMNT?? CLEARVIEW .

cheers, I'd tried safemode which didn't work.
I'd tried sata in both ide and ahci mode in the bios which didn't make any difference (i've left it at ahci now).

I just pulled the machine out again, and this time round spotted i'd left the hdmi cable to the TV plugged in.
Unplugged it, and it looks like that was causing an issue (presumably as the video card drivers hadn't been loaded?).
I'm going to install all the base drivers for everything that is currently installed and see what happens, then assuming it doesn't cause any issues i'll try the audigy again, and then turn on the wireless.

I feel a bit of a pillock for not spotting the hdmi cable earlier, as i'd already run the installer about 4 times with everything non essential turned off in the bios to begin with, then the sata mode changed, then the soundcard out.

/must remember to check he cables at the back in future

I normally do unplug everything but the PSU and monitor ;)

I'm actually surprised it caused an issue given that it's a fairly common interface these days :)
Although having said that, given some of the issues i've had in the past I should never be surprirsed at what caises a problem.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm a bigger n00b than I thought I was:)
