Im not sure of the future lifespan of the i5's socket....but its not just the cost of the CPU, yeah £13 difference but it RAM & the motherboard's are cheaper...The cost of the i7 CPU, RAM n board is £439 & the i5 CPU, ram, board n SSD £444....As i say it was just a idea.....but if you are not OC prob best to stick with the i7

As for the AMD's the six cores are great for the encoding etc but not for games as much the Phonem 955 would run a bit better for games
