I've just done a bit of an upgrade and a clean install of windows etc.
when I go on to the internet there is a long (well if feels long!) pause untill the 1st page is opened there after no worries and broadband speeds are good.
same with e-mail bit of a delay until it'll get mail?
I'm using safari (same problem with others tho) and windows mail live (same again)
using security essentials & the vista firewall
in device manager all OK no newer drivers.
Q9450 + p5Q with talk talk modem
any ideas??
I didn't go through the network wizard thing, just straight onto internet & e-mail?

OK would you or someone like to run me through that!
I've done ipconfig /all
and got to the settings in ipv4, but don't want to stuff it up

Just noticed you said you are using a talktalk modem. Are you sure it's just a modem and not a router (what's the model number)? If it's only a modem and your PC is initiating the ADSL connection (i.e. PPPoA) then it's normal to have a slight delay while the connection is re-established after you haven't used it for a while.

Hi, it's a router "broadband wireless g adsl2+ router

I've never had this problem before I upgraded.
and looking the e-mail is actually OK just the internet hangs like a cow 1st off

ta!

oh and in the ipv4 thing it does say obtain automatically
