Any issues with a "reference blower" GTX 1080?

The KFA2 "reference blower" GTX 1080 is quite a bit cheaper than the other variants.

I have a large case with good airflow. Will a "reference blower" card still have to throttle?

I only care about performance, not noise.

If it won't throttle, I'll buy it.

custom fan profile no.
stock fan profile yes.

Don't care about noise? That's the card to get. MSI afterburner, whack fans on Auto and you will be laughing.
Pretty sure that's the situation.

It is essentially a founders edition card. It's a reference blower. I would imagine it's no better a cooler than the Nvidia founders/reference blowers. In fact. I would be amazed if it is a better cooler. I would say it would need a custom fan profile.

You said you don't care about noise. That's a good one to get.
Hopefully someone else can chip in but I think I'm right in what I am saying.

You're right in that I don't care about noise but I also don't want to mess about setting custom fan profiles.

It's will be the same cooler, just without the shiny :)
It definetly won't. It'll be a much more cost-effective solution underneath, and certainly won't have the vapour chamber that the FE cooler has. These plastic blowers are always the cheapest variant of any card for a reason. Nvidia's blower is the best of that style of card around, although that's a pretty low bar IMO.

I'd go EVGA SC or Gainward GLH for £589. Decent quiet custom coolers and clocking well.

Chances are the cheapest blower will have cheaper components and thus lower performance. The PCB's are slightly different.

What if I told you that most coolers are made of plastic ?? And only metal they have is the radiator with heat pipes under the plastic.

Mind blown ??

I, like you, care not about noise. I always run my cards on Auto in MSI afterburner, to keep them cooler and hopefully they will "last longer". They always run nice and cool. Even AMD ones!

King Mustard thing is.. Quite a bit more aka 25 pounds on 525 pounds card ??? I may be **** at math but that 5% more for a GOOD COOLER.

There is, by asking.

By asking, I've found out that by default, it will throttle. I wouldn't have known that without asking.

Doubt anyone is in a position to answer that, as no-one has received these cards yet, so they are just assuming.

That said if you're getting a 1080, I'd save up and get a 'proper' one - as this plastic clown crap will be always looked down upon and hard to resell IMO. Though if you plan on keeping it for 3 years+ then I guess it doesn't matter.
