Hi guys

I have a white macbook (bought April 2010) with the 2.25GHz core 2 duo chip and 2Gb Ram.

Would you foresee any issues (I'm thinking speed wise) with updating it to Lion?

Thanks.

I never really thought about the RAM before. A quick look around suggests it's only 25 quid to double it and 8 screws on the bottom so that's probably a sensible suggestion.

One other question if I may, does the update wipe all of your apps, pictures, music etc etc or does it just replace the base OS?

Just to wrap this one up.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I bought myself some extra RAM (a bargain at £24 - 2x2Gb) and installed that. Very easy if anyone is wondering. Just undo the 8 screws on the base, pop that off, then 2 clips and the RAM sticks pop out. Slot the new ram in and do the screws up, job's a good un.

Then installed Lion last night. 3.7Gb download (£21) and a 35 minute installation. All booted up just fine and all my old apps and files were still there.

I haven't had much of a play yet but it certainly doesn't feel any slower than it used to.

Ohh extra RAM - where did you get that from (if you can say) as I could do with boosting mine (email in trust if its a competitor) as I'm going to do Lion soon as well.
