I used to landboard for 5 years, but haven't touched a kite for 3 years due to popping my main kite. That and just general frustration of never being powered enough (kite too small) and gusty winds meant I never bothered getting it my kite repaired.

For a couple of weeks I've had the urge to get back on it..! I've never kitesurfed before, but I've booked a lesson for Sunday, and I have just bought an Ozone Edge 11m.

Buzzing to get back on it.

Any kitesurfers here? If so where do you go? I'm stuck in the middle of the midlands, so basically any coast line is a 2hour+ drive for me.

bodyboarder (good session at polzeath today) and windsurfer here but there always seems to be some kitesurfers round at daymer bay , wouldnt mind giving it a go

I kitesurf..... Or should I say used too.

Spent three months in Brazil. The trasition from tropical conditions to Hunstanton and Redcar was just too great. Haven't flown since really.

I used to go from Nottingham to Hunny when I wanted to fly, epic distance. I moved to wakeboarding (Cable) instead.

The best location I've been to in the UK is Rhosneigr.

Hunstanton is exactly where I'm having my lesson! About a 2hr40 drive, but I'd rather drive extra 1hr30 and be by the beach instead of a gusty inland session! I'm going to Portugal, Lanzarote and Greece this year so figured it'd be a good idea to learn to kitesurf..! :)

Nice!

Hunny is very good but the wind is still mostly W/SW so its not as clean as it could be. It has a bit of distance to tidy up and it will be calm shallow water so its a great place to learn (in the UK).

I remember there was a instructor from eastern Europe (called Sergio I think). Saved my life I swear. My LE popped mid flight and I got pretty tangled up in my lines in an outgoing tide. Only one in 30 people or so on the water to come over to check out what was going on. I’ll never for get it but it was a bad day that is very rare.

Most of the kiting at Hunny is done by the lighthouse. Front of town has sand barriers and is a lot like clay so go further round. You doing the one day or 2 day course?

Kitesurfing is great but its also a massive pain the in rear some times. Not to put you off even further, but I’ve for sessions a few times only to arrive to see no wind at all, or wind that is too strong to fly.

When its bad its bad but when its good.....you keep the smile for days and think of nothing but your next session. Like good crack I guess.

We get a lot of kitesurfers off the beach here in Worthing. Big beach, prevailing W/SW wind and lots of free parking on the front make it quite a good prospect.

I keep threatening to have a go but I think my wife thinks I'll kill myself!
