Hi

Im inches away from hitting buy on 2 more sticks of DDR2 for my system taking it up to 4x1GB. I have Corsair DDR2 memory in there. I currently run my E6400 OCed to 3.2Ghz, but the ram is manually set to stock speeds at 800Mhz (400x2) and timings of 5 5 5 12. Will I be able to stick in another 2GB of the exact same RAM without issues? Or will there/is there likely to be issues with either my Mobo not recognising it all, it affecting my OC, or any other issues? Im happy to fiddle with voltages if need be (may need help though)

Im aware of the 32bit limit on RAM, I have 64bit Vista ready to compair to 32bit XP to see if it is any better.

With DDR2 being so cheap, Its kind of stupid not to... But id rather not increase RAM at the detriment to my OC or PC stability.

Cheers

P.s. rest of Rig:
8800GT
320GB, 200GB and 80GB SATA HDD's
Hiper 580w PSU (I know, but its still working fine here...)

I ran 4 sticks of the PC6400 Geil, 4 sticks of the OCZ PC6400 Platinum, and 4 sticks of the PC5300 Crucial Ballistix (at 1000mhz) on my P965 DS3 rev 1.0 without any issues.

4 sticks may slightly affect the max overclock of your CPU, but whether or not that affects you depends on whether or not you are running your CPU at its max.

Dunno about max, my CPU is running at an easy oc. FSB set to 400 through 8x multiplier with nothing else changed, no voltages or anything. And although the RAM settings are set manually not auto, they are just the exact stock settings for the sticks. So I would say this isnt max at all really.

Banny, what issues did you have?

I couldn't get all 4 sticks in my PC stable at 430fsb. Gave up fiddling with it in the end and just clocked it down to 400 - as my PC is fast enough at that speed.

Expect issues running the same timings as 2GB, it puts a lot more strain on the Northbridge when you're running 4 sticks (the temperature on mine jumped 20 degrees with 2 more sticks in)

Ah, Northbridge, forgot about that. Think ill stick my spare 120mm fan on to cool the NB, hwereever is best...

What timmings shall i slacken should I hit issues?

(Oh, btw, I may have slipped on my mouse and bought the RAM already.... :))

Stability problems, reduced overclock, seems like my memory controller didn't like 4 sticks, now got 2*2 gig and machine is running better than ever.

I had 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300 running at 900Mhz on my GA-965P-DS3 rev1 with timings of 4-4-4-12 with no problems. Voltage was set to +0.3V (2.1V)

I found 4 sticks would benefit from increasing the mch volts, run ram volts at max, and up vcore to at least 1.4 on my ds3 v1 . Both 6400 4x1gig sets of either corsair c4 or the geil c4 needed extra vcore on the chip to be stable (this was on F12 and 8x450) Sadly my DS3 rigs are about to retire
