Any laptops with sturdy charging ports?

Hi

Every laptop I've ever had has eventually had its charging port broken. We share the laptop between rooms, plug and unplug it all the time and whilst I don't think we treat them too rough, there are kids using them so......

Last laptop was a USB-C charger and I thought this is it! This is the solution as it's surely more solid than the old barrel type, but no, that's now broken too.

Can anyone think of a model of laptop which has a really sturdy charging port for this use case?

There are laptops with magnetic charge connectors. The more recent MacBooks have these (again, after Apple stopped for a few years) and I know Surface laptops have them too.

There may well be others, but I’d definitely be trying to find something with a magnetic port.

You can also get magnetic USB-C cables/adaptors. I have tried a few over the years for the kids with their iPads but they all seem to get a bit flaky over time. Maybe someone can suggest some that are reliable.
Good point, the one on my surface pro tablet is *clearly* not going to get damaged by its design.

I'm gonna try a magnetic usb c converter for the laptop we're currently using

I've not personally tried them. But you can get "magsafe" adapters for USBC ports. You leave one part of the adapter in the port and another part of the adapter on the end of the USBC cable to charge it that way. It should save wear on the port.

Quick update I bought one similar to these, £14 and so far I'm really happy with it. Wish I'd have had it years ago
