Does anybody know what type of lock this is, and would a professional locksmith be able to pick it? And/or what would the key look like?

Thanks,

Is it a safe? Any other clues?

Was the photo taken under a head torch at the dead of night?

Something like that, I'd be amazed if you couldn't just hammer a screwdriver into the centre of it and crunch it open.

Just about any lock can be 'picked' but most locksmiths are just interested in drilling them out or bypassing the lock mechanism as its easier on the harder ones and they get to sell you another new lock to replace it. You would have to find one that specialises in lock picking (most dont bother).

It would depend if it was a one sided key. IE ridges on the top as they are pretty easy for a 'knowledgeable lock pick'. Obviously it depends on the nature of the lock.

Here you go.

Safelocksmiths take pride in offering non destructive opening of safes and locks wherever possible. This includes manipulation of combination locks and picking of key locks. All safes can be opened and restored to their original condition.

I think its more about cracking it than picking it.
