Got a chance of getting what i consider a cheap R32 1 owner blah blah but ive never driven one and dont know anyone with one just wondering what there like compared to other MKIV's?

I think Wayn0r might have one, don't know, he doesnt seem to mention it much.

In isolation and ignoring other factors they are good cars - reasonable performance, acceptable levels of build quality and not inherently unreliable. However, they are obscenely expensive, far far too expensive for what really is just a Golf. If they were half the price they command they'd be decent hot hatches but at the current prices I just don't see how anyone but the biggest Golf fanboy can ever consider one.

Same applies to the rest of the Mk4 range, really.

03 Plate, 3 door black with black Koing leather with 60k, 1 owner from new with full dealer history i didnt think was too bad for about 9k? I agree they are over priced compared with others but they tend to hold it better to so generally can work out the same or better than other hot hatches when coming to resale time, im not entirely convinced myself just compared to others ive seem sounds reasonable

9k seems cheap compared to most out there, certainly the best looking MK4 but then again, it should be for the price it holds.

£9k seems very cheap, infact £9k removes the whole stupid price issue from the equation. Good car for £9k but why is it only £9k/

friend of a friend, trading it in against a new one, thats the kind of px price hes been offered and i was told I could have it for his px price as it makes bugger all diff to him, hes not the kind of person who can be bothered selling a car privately etc, it will require a service when he comes to sell (end feb/march time) so that isnt going to be exactly cheap either although It may only be an Oil service they would rip me on

thats about right then

the dealers would buy it off him for 9k and promptly stick on a forecourt for 11.5 :D

Indeed, and get myself a nice little runner :D, which im tempted to do, keeping it for a year or so and maybe nearly get my money back well at least not loosing too much

of course i need to see the car first but after driving other MK4's golfs i find the ride very harsh, hit the smallest of pot holes manhole covers etc and you know about it where as on the S3 and Cupra R based on same platform seem so much more composed and absorb the shock much much better

Lucky bugger... I'm hankering after one of these.. My £30k salary is ******* me off now as I've just bought a house and haven't got the cash to get one. Thankfully I'm caining the overtime bill due to all the server work having to be done out of hours.. Buy still doesn't make it any easier :(

My Leon Cupra is just boring and I want to change it ASAP..

Any pics so I can drool and get jealous..

I thought these were still selling for 13-15k, why would his be worth so little to a dealer, a friend of mine recently got offered around 11.5k for his as part ex from a main dealer...iirc that was the same year and similar mileage (55k or so)
