Managed to squeeze 4162 mhz out of my quad core processor which should be sufficient>>> ive spent weeks trying 2 get more but its never been stable.. Before i close my pc case and close up shop for actual use of the pc i just want to clarify that the setup is not still majorly upgradeable... main probs i had was overclocking memory which was purchased for its overclockability but im having to run it at stock settings> ocz reaper x 4g (1333mhz).. ive read that no one yet has got this stable at 1600mhz with all four cores active so of course i tried to no avail??? maybe wasted my money here as there have been quite a few reported issues with my board... Also i am not running the latest bios, im running 0402, have tried to upgrade on many occasions but each attempt has failed reporting various errors in ez flash and im aware about the dangers of using the windows utility.
Correct me if im wrong but as i see it im running at 333fsb with a 12.5 multiplier and the ram also is running at 1333 although the settings in the bios are unlinked at the moment.... timings are 7-6-6-18 1t with just the first seven being one over stock settings (6)....... what has really confused me is the memory issue?? if i purchase memory that is say 1800mhz then my motherboards overclocked limit of 1600 will restrict me to using the dividers right??? but will the memory still have to have its timings loosened if i purchased the max 4 sticks (8gb)....??? I see a lot of people push to get 8 gb ram active and it sometimes begs the question (is it really worth the hassle?) however getting the absolute most out of our systems is important to us hence the title of the forums.... My last upgrade will probably be the ram.... so any advice would be appreciated

concentrate on the chipset/NB voltage and temps. That is most likely to be the limiting factor on your mobo. As for ram, try using 2T. It makes a big difference.

Aim for about 4.4 stable. Also, what PSU do you have and what are the CPU load temps?

Thanks , i have the thermaltake toughpower 1500, just to note that i havent optionally watercooled the chipset due to reported probs with the supplied fitting and space in the case for another radiator etc... dont know if that would make much of a difference ... current load temps etc are as follows

cpu 39 c idle
57 load

ram voltage 1.92 (didnt notice but need to change) downwards

mb 43 c idle

just noted that there is a dd3 term voltage warning at 0.98 v????

cpu volts 1.55
nb volts 1.62

some of this info was from pc probe which i know isnt totally accurate..

Is 2t slower??? but in being slower allows for higher frequencies???

thanks for help
