hi, basically im about 2 seconds from asking for an asus 1000h or samsung nc10 notebook for my birthday but im wondering if there are any other quite small laptops in that price area that could play games like cod1 and rainbow 6 :raven sheild etc etc, the main use will be for internet/uni work battery life is quite imoprtant and gaming who just be an extra thing really.

aside from that question if i do go the notebook route are the two mentioned good choices, also finally is there a likelihood of a notebook being released soon that does games well? (im aware gaming ist the point but it would be nice..)

im probably seen as an msi wind fanboy but with this netbook you can overclock to 24% more performance with a bios update, runs raven shield perfectly fine, not tried cod1 but read that it runs well also, not used the nc10 but the specs are identical almost

You can pick up a Asus eee N10J which has dedicated nvidia 9300M GS, it will play all modern games to some degree some of them quite well. Think you can get them for a fraction over £400.

There's a big price gab between netbooks like the MSI Wind and Sammy NC10 and high quality but ultra mobile laptops like the Toshiba Portege seriess. For 400 you're probably best with a netbook IMHO
