any new Nvidia / amd gpu's coming soon ?

Even when AMD 8000 & Nvidia 700 series come they'll be way overpriced.

I'm happy with what I have now and wont upgrade for a year or two.

True, but the new cards should push the price of the outgoing generations prices down if the op is in the market for (ATM) a current gen card.

I am already itching to upgrade to SLI 680s - granted I have a 1440p monitor, so there is some justification.

With regard to the current gen cards dropping, I wouldn't expect a fire-sale for the 680s until at least a year from now, when the mid-range offering of the next, next-gen is released.

I wouldn't expect a firesale at all. At best, you'll get a bit of a dip in prices, then stock drying up with the new cards brought in at around the same prices, possibly more.

You'll only really get good deals by going second hand or getting lucky with a shop that sells off its last few cheaply, and most shops don't really do that.

You'll probably see the current card's prices actually creep up slightly over the few months the new cards are out, to take advantage of the people who want to upgrade to a dual GPU set up, as some people seemingly will pay over the odds to do just that.

I would expect a fire-sale - once the mid-range comes out, a lot of older inventory will need to be cleared out to make way for it and no retailer wants to be saddled with that.

Don't bank on it, Nvidia were pushing GTX 5## series GPU's for the same money they were before Kepler, Hell a GTX 560Ti 448 is still £200 now, thats as more than a 7870.

Pretty sure that the 580's kept at the same price for a very long time, even though the next gen cards which were cheaper were faster.

Ofc, you might be right. A bit of a moot point as I just pulled the trigger on a second 680 (and I am still in that "wtf was I thinking" frame of mind at the moment).

Was going to make this same thread myself.

I'm still on a 470GTX. From what I've researched a 670 will double my frames in Borderlands 2, which runs fine on my 470 with everything high and physx high, so I figured I'd wait for the 700 Series and get a really good upgrade. My GPU has also developed a "whine" when the fan is running at high RPM which another reason I want to replace it.

As for the 700 series on the horizon, nvidia's GPU conference is March 18-21, might be something new after that.
