Hi all, just wondering whether anyone has any info on the new low end core 2 duos that will eventually be released (like the new celerons)?

For me as long as the price is right a E4XXX would suit my desktop needs perfectly. (so would conroe price drops :p )

Cheers all.

EDIT: I have just found a review (can't link due to the advertisements) which shows the E4300 (1.8ghz, 800mhz FSB, 2mb cache) to be only 5% or so slower than the E6300 which aslong as the price is right should be excellent.

The site also managed on stock cooling to take the processor to 2.9ghz on stock volts and 3.2ghz with the voltage set to 1.45.

All of which is good news.

Also one thing they did state was that due to the 9x multiplier the chip on low end motherboards at least was easier to overclock as it required a lower fsb to get to the same frequencies as the E6300.

Very interesting.

I would also like to know about these chips. They seem perfect for me (slightly less powerful and expensive than the current conroe's). I heard they were being released early Febuary in America, not sure how reliable that is though.

There is a thread about the e4300 over at XS. They seem to think that they'll be out between the 14th and 21st of this month.

We'll have to wait and see what the retail chips can do. It might turn out to be better to buy a used E6300.
