You still need some way of getting that information to Conky. I use lm_sensors for that, but I think there are some other ways.

acpi -t is another method; but I've never had hardware that will allow its use. lm-sensors on the other hand always works, and thankfully has the script that runs through inserting the correct modules into the kernel.
