been looking at this Akasa AK-920 EVO 120 Direct Heatpipe Copper with Fan Controller (Socket 754/939/775/478) (HS-025-AK)

am i likely to see any improvment on what i allready got cooling wise, i have the Akasa AK-859 Copper CPU Cooler (Socket 754 & 939) (HS-021-AK)

and at idle its arond 38 full load about 52

is it worth spending on?

i know it will be qieter but the one i have now isnt that noisy (all my fans are at lowest setting)

my room temp is 23.5 at the moment case temp is 33

I have an Evo 120. I get around 44*c idle and 48*c loaded @ 2.8Ghz, but keep in mind that my CPU has poor IHS contact with the cpu's core, causing the high temps. It is a very quiet cooler and should drop temperatures reasonably. However I see your temperatures aren't that bad in the first place.

I had one on my X24400 before I got a G Power Pro. It was crap, in my opinion. I couldn't get my fingers in to screw the heatsink down hard enough (they are like cuban cigars :S ), so unless you run a case with a horizontal (rather than a vertical/standup like most) it's not a good heatsink as you don't get great contact with the heatspreader.

I tried it with a P4 3.0ghz system, and it's slighter better, a couple of degrees better than the crappy stock cooler, and got a pair of pliers in there to tighten that sucker right up. It's still top heavy though :(

In my opinion don't bother - overpriced, poor design, better coolers out there.

For instance right now my Cpu is reading 25 deg c on my G power pro @2100rpm. In a few hours it will probably go up to about 28 @ idle. I ran two instances of prime95 with a 10% overclock yesterday and managed to get it for the first time over 40 degrees, up to 42 with both cores flat out. This cooler is the same price as the Akasa, or slightly cheaper. Other coolers, Scythe Ninja, SI 120 with 120mm fan etc, all rated highly on these boards it seems, all worth a look instead of the Evo 120.

I can't recommend the Artic Freezer 64 Pro either - it's ok, but not great. Getting silly temps of 58 deg+ with my opteron 146 overclocked to 2.8, it's showing 48 deg c now under load running prime 95 @ 2.5.

Mul - you did well to get the Akasa to keep your cpu to those temps at that speed!
