Given that the last line above and the last line before one of the restarts are both talking about duplicate IPv6 addresses something with your wireless lan driver configuration could be suspected. Do you actually need IPv6 ... if not disable it.

Is that the only prob. you see? So the freeze mystery goes unsolved.

Look good?

Well the last messages before the restarts in the log provided above seem to indicate ndiswrapper loading bringing up the wireless lan card and then the IPv6 duplicate address error. There are no obvious errors that I can see in the rest of the log, (I'm assuming that the checks on sda5 are due to it not being closed properly due to the issue).

If you are not actually using IPv6 then I would disable it. Hmmm ,,, the grub method you seem to be using is not how I would do it, but I'm mostly using RHEL/CentOS and I guess you are using something like Ubuntu? A quite Google found a mention of doing that way for a beta release of Jaunty but that then it didn't work. I'd be more likely to try disabling it using the edits in section 4.2.2 of the this page

If that doesn't stop the problem, which unfortunately will probably be the case, then I would try temporarily disabling ndiswrapper and see if that makes a difference (I have seen that cause issues in the past but that was quite some time ago). It could be that ndiswrapper is using a driver which is not quite right in some way and hence is causing the system instability.

If you type:

sudo lsusb

or

sudo lspci

depending on how your wireless card is connected, then it should list the wireless chipset. From my brief look the only problem that does stick out is the duplicate address issue. I'm not sure how Ubuntu works but you could try:

sudo rmmod ipv6

which will disable the ipv6 module for that session, then if it doesn't crash you might be onto something.

EDIT: Also, please take note of other users suggestions. Sites like THIS are not around for no reason.

Nope still freezes, it is a bug in a lot of distroes kernel or XORG, not sure what. It effects some & not others there is a thread about the freezes/hangups on the Ubuntu forum 1,400+ posts!! The cut & paste was to big for that. The wireless USB is Accton Technology Corp. SMCWUSB-G 802.11bg. If I used the linux driver woild it help? I think it might be in my kernel, but disabled for some reason. How do I check & enable it?
