Clients:Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007

Users calendars are switching to a mail folder. Users first notice this when they're unable to add new appointments or view their calendar by day/week/month as mail folders wouldn't provide these options.
I started OWA and that created a new Calendar named Calendar1, with the original Calendar's icon switching to a folder.
The only thing we're managing to do is:
1. Move contents from the folder Calendar into the new Calendar1
2. Delete the folder Calendar
3. Close Outlook then start using Outlook.exe /resetfolders
4. Move contents from Calendar1 into Calendar, then deleting Calendar1
I don't think I can scan Google any more than I already have done + it's hard to know what to search for if you know what I mean, the search results are nothing to do with the problems we're having.
Its affecting a small number of associates, some running Outlook 2003, some 2007. Some with BlackBerrys and some without. So there's no pattern.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
