Any PC gamers thinking about getting a new console

Are there any die hard PC gamers whom like me are interested in a new console but are not yet convinced by what's available for one reason or another. In the past I have had an Xbox, which I gave to my nephew, and I still have a Gamecube - so I have had some experience with consoles.

I would like something that complements a PC by providing games that differ and are not available on the PC. I am also dead against playing a FPS on a console as I suck at the controls and I am mouse and keyboard man. I would not mind the more third person action adventure type games for consoles. I would like to add that I have a HDTV which is being wasted on Pal TV.

I was the most interested in the PS3 because they will have games that will not be released on the PC. The prices are just silly considering how expensive the games will be for the first couple of years.

Wii - different games to the PC but none of which interest me other than Zelda or Resident Evil games (not sure when). I am not convinced about the controller as I am convinced you are going to see a huge jump in repetitive strain injuries which I am rather prone to. No HD which would be a shame not to take advantage of my HDTV. Also games will likely be expensive.

360 - Games just too similar to the PC or sports and racing games which I have no interested in. Games are still expensive.

Looks like I will have stick with the PC as my only games machine for a while longer. Pity though as I have a nice HDTV going to waste and there is nothing nicer than laying in on a Sunday morning playing games - well apart from that other thing.

Since I don't have an HD-ready PC and I don't fancy shelling out the kind of money I'll need to for a PS3.

I'm almost definitely going for a Wii (teehee). It has the quirky kinda things I'd like to play to get away from my PC. I use my PS2 mainly for multiplayer stuff when my mates/bros visit and to be honest I'm sick of the Burnout/NFS kinda stuff. The whole controller/weird games thing has kept me interested before it's even released.......

If I wanted to continue on from the same kinda stuff I play on my PS2, I'd probably get an XBox 360 in six months time when they're cheaper because people are upgrading ;)

I pretty much lost intrest in console's after the Saturn/Dreamcast saga, I have a PSP which only realy gets used when there is a powercut.
I have just prefered the tweakability of PC games over the what you see is what you get that you have with consoles.

I would consider myself a hardcore PC gamer (as the only console/handhelds I own are a gamecube which I bought for SSBM and Zelda and a DS...which I bought ages ago and only ever use when travelling). However I'm definitely going to get a Wii because it costs virtually nothing and some of the games look quite fun (plus Super Smash Bros. 3), and I'm seriously considering getting a 360 when the next revision comes out which is supposedly going to improve the cooling and thus reduce crashing. I also want to get my hands on a PSP.

Im still pretty clueless on the whole next gen console scene.

If online gaming is big and they make a keyboard and mouse for the ps3 or wii id consider it.

Would have to be pretty damn good tho.

Twighlight princess may be a good enough reason for me to get one. I will just wait a bit after release to see that there are no problems with the controller. I am just worried it may become uncomfortable with extended use.

I hope they release more games than they did on the Gamecube which was pathetic. I enjoy survival/horror/adventure games on consoles but I have not seen any for launch or for future release. I suppose it will come down to the games and as far as I can see the console is aimed squarely at kids which may be a problem for me.

.

I think the 360 offers enough unique content to be worth a purchase. There's also quite a few games appearing on both the pc and the 360 that i'd rather play on a large tele with a pad. Seeing as you already have the tele you might as well splash out ;)

Agreed, but it still great to play a game once in a while laying flat on your back. I wonder if they have tested the new controller with the horizontal position, mmmm.

For anyone looking at getting an xbox 360 or PSP, just thought I would mention you can get them free now with some mobile phone offers.

My G/F is picking up her new mobile tonight and I get a free PSP out of it. (wanted an xbox 360 but the phone she wanted didnt come with one :( )

With PC components getting expensive am contemplating ps3 and that or may hang on for a year more.

Not sure will see

I went from a console person (Megadrive, PS1, N64) to PC quite a few years ago. The last generation of consoles just didn't interest me (PS2, X-Box, Gamecube). This time round I'm going to stick to PC gaming but also get a Wii for the new gaming options it offers.

I just hope Nintendo does it right this time and offers some more adult games to go along with the Marios, Zeldas etc. I really hope a Nintendo console sells well this time round as that will determine how much 3rd party support the console gets.

Ive pretty much had every console over the last 10 years and a PC at the same time. Come the end the console always gets sold off, due to lack of what I feel are absorbing games, meaning the PC always wins for me.

Death to console ports! ;)

I will hold my hands up and admit I thought Nintendo had lost the plot when i first saw that controller now strangly its the only console im going to get.

P.S It goes without saying that should FF7 get re-made I'll buy a ps3 as well! :D
