I'm in one of theme moods and would like a traditional game like I use to play as a kid

It does not need to be one of them but you get the idea what im looking for anything other then rayman (I dont like the new one).

Kirby’s
Sonic
 
Freedom Planet is heavily inspired by the early Sonic games. It's very good too.

Giana Sisters is somewhat Sonic-like (despite its original being an outright Mario Bros clone/rip-off on the C64 - swiftly withdrawn from sale). A tough challenge too, in later levels.

As mentioned, Darksiders is very Zelda-like, mechanically. Even has a hook-shot.

If you ever played Earthbound back in the day, which was a great JRPG, then LISA is similar.

Volgarr the Viking is a Ghouls & Ghosts / Rastan type game, is tough as nails, and is my outright favourite game of the past 8 or so years

The 2014 Gauntlet game is a modern version of the classic arcade game, rather than a game in the style of the original, but I found it pushed the right buttons.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Both are brilliant platformers, arguably better than Mario and Sonic in many aspects.

Also, you can play Mario games PC but it's not exactly legal:p

Edit: Sorry, missed the Rayman bit.You won't get anything better than those two on PC, though. Far better than the new ones.

Dark Souls is basically what Zelda should have become if it wanted to be a good game in the modern times, so you could try that.
 
Super Mario Bros X. If you can find a site that still hosts it (it used to have the blessing of Nintendo but they withdrew it after a few years). Probably the best Mario experience you can have on PC.
