Any point in this upgrade...?

I'm about to hit the PCI-E scene with a nice shiny new KN8 Ultra. I'm currently using a 3500+ Winnie, and wondering if theres much point in switching out the CPU for a 3700+ SD in terms of performance? Mainly a gaming rig.

Also considering a 3800+ X2 but highly skeptical about whether it's worth the extra £80 quid or so

I dont think they're any point upgrading from a 3500winchester to a 3700 san diego - provided the winchester is overclocked?

Not much point really but having said that if you can flog your older cpu for good money and upgrade to an SD or Dual-Core for no extra outlay then go for it!

A lot of people have said once they've had an X2, they wouldn't go back to a single core processor. Depends on what you do though. If you're a gamer, then just keep your existing processor and spend the money elsewhere. If you do a lot of multi-tasking and/or use a few applications which are multi-threaded (lot of big video / image programs such as Photoshop, etc. are all multi-threaded) then you'll find a big benefit with an X2.

But I wouldn't go from a 3500 -> 3700 SD just for the sake of it.
