Any point in upgrading from my GB 480 SOC?

I have had my 480 SOC for a few years now, and apart from a few teething troubles it's been fine.

I play a fair bit on BF3 and I occasionally get some slow down, although it's never running at 60fps when the games start properly, certainly not on AK.

I have been looking through all the latest and greatest graphics cards and I am struggling to find something that's significantly better, or should I say, significantly better and at a sensible price. I don't see the point in spending £400 for what seems like a marginal speed improvement that might see me get a few extra fps at most.

I am talking single chip cards here and I don't fancy SLI.

Any ideas? Am I best to just wait for the 780 GTX or better yet the 880 GTX? Although that being said, I read talk of 6GB cards coming down the line with the 780, so I expect the prices to be even more silly.

Have to say I'm very glad I got my GTX470 SLI setup when I did - I'd feel like a mug buying any of the high end nVidia cards at current prices and even the 660 (non ti) which is at a semi reasonable performance/price point is no upgrade from a decent 4/5 series card unlike previous generations. AMD price points are barely any better.

Personally I'd say your best waiting for the next generation - even if you end up forking over the odds for it atleast you will also get a big bump in performance from where you are now.

TBH I've been playing a lot of games recently on my laptop (GTX675m clocked to 560ti performance) and even at 1920x1080 I can play most stuff with max settings aslong as I don't go nuts with the AA.

I went from a 580 to a 670 and couldn't be happier, pretty much locks to 60FPS on BF3 full ultra, though I had the bonus of getting a decent price for my 580 so the upgrade cost me next to nothing

780 will be 4GB on release, you might be thinking of the 6GB versions of the 7970

for the kind of jump you seem to be looking for you may well be better off waiting till next gen and just be prepared to turn down some settings while you wait

I'm keeping my SOC for the time being. I'm starting to get a little slow down in a couple of mods, though I think that will be more to do with my ancient cpu than anything else.
