alright lads, just another quick question from me here, i was wondering if there are many gains to be had from upgrading from a 939 board to a am2? other than future proofing im unsure if theres much point?

also if i did upgrade would i still be able to use my ddr ram?

i thought am2 is ddr2 memory ?, if so you'll need something like an asrock crossover board that takes ddr/ddr2 if you want to use you're old memory.

i'd look at going core2duo rather than am2 tho :).

No (purely changing board results in no noticable performance difference) and no (you can't transfer 939 CPUs to AM2 and only 939 CPUs support DDR) ;)

And no again, well yes to it being DDR2 but no DDR/DDR2 board exists on AM2 :)
