any point in upgrading to am2?

alright lads, just another quick question from me here, i was wondering if there are many gains to be had from upgrading from a 939 board to a am2? other than future proofing im unsure if theres much point?

also if i did upgrade would i still be able to use my ddr ram?

and yes memory will be fine..

i thought am2 is ddr2 memory ?, if so you'll need something like an asrock crossover board that takes ddr/ddr2 if you want to use you're old memory.

i'd look at going core2duo rather than am2 tho

No (purely changing board results in no noticable performance difference) and no (you can't transfer 939 CPUs to AM2 and only 939 CPUs support DDR)

And no again, well yes to it being DDR2 but no DDR/DDR2 board exists on AM2
