All my games run fine, at 1920x1080 with settings maxed on most games apart from max AA.

Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz
4GB 1066mhz ram
Ati 4870 512mb

I find it runs anything I throw at it more than acceptably. I play so called "demanding" games like arma 2 and fsx with no problem, just with some of the shiny removed.

I was thinking of getting one of those 6870's, for BF3 and Skyrim which might be too much for my pc. But at the moment I cant justify it when I find the gaming experience with my pc perfectly decent.

The ONLY game that does not perform well is black ops, it stutters, but I think there are lots of performance issues with that game since my pc runs both cod 4 and mw2 without fault.

Should I upgrade? I'm going to buy 2 new games soon - witcher 2 and deus ex. Anyone foresee me struggling to play them?

Thanks.

I am not a "graphics whore" type of person who must have the best image on their screen. Doesn't bother me to play a slightly uglied version of the game.

Don't think I'll upgrade for ages.

I think I'll just wait and see how bf3 performs on my pc, then buy a new gpu if it needs it.

Does that seem sensible?

Yes ok.

I just dont understand what people have these I7, 580 rigs FOR exactly.

What game needs that power I just dont know. Unless youre playing at some insane resolution.

Tbh thats two games.

And I played warhead and it bored me completely.

I'm interested in playing metro, my pc would struggle with it then? Bearing in mind I'm not bothered if I have to run it not totally maxed out?
