I am just about to build a new system (Once SB-E is released) and I have purchased an EVGA 3Gb GTX 580, sat in my box of spares I have a GTX 280, would I see any benefit from using the 280 alongside the 580 as a PhysX card?

Yes you will in games that support Physx.

Batman series, Mafia 2 etc, there arn't that many.

I have 2 580's and a 280 for Physx, and while you are not using it all the time, it does make a difference in games that support it.
If you dont play that type of game then no its not worth it.

If its just sat there gathering dust give it a go.

Crazy suggestion, try it yourself when you build the system, it will only take about 30 minutes to find out.

If you have Mafia 2, Batman AA or Metro, they all have benchmarks that you can run, if you don't have any of them you can use fraps in another physx title.

If the numbers show that it is/isn't worth it, decide if you want to keep using it or not.
