Hi there, I'm soon to be putting together my first rig and would really appreciate some tips before I start putting it together.

These are the parts I have;
Zalman Z9 Plus Tower
Asus p8z68 V Pro
8GB KG-Skill Ripjaw (DDR3, 1600Ghz)
Intel Sandybridge i5 2500k Quad 3.3Ghz;
ATI Radeon, B276 - 256MB (Im buying a better one after the 7 series arrives)
800W Corsair Gaming Series PSU
Corsair H60 Water Cooler
160GB 7200RPM Dell HD
Windows 7 Home Prem.
Anti Static strap
And all the trimmings, keyboard, mouse etc

I just need to get an optical drive, I think. Does 'one size fit all'??

Would I be better off just using the integrated graphics on the mobo rather than sticking the ancient ATI in?

Apart from screw drivers, do I need any other tools?

Should I get some additional thermal paste (there's some already on the cooler plate pre-applied)

What about a surge protector? Discussions I've seen on this were of divided opinion. Don't want to splash out on that at the moment.

Are there any common screw ups that tend to happen to first builds?

I want to be ready to get it together on Boxing day :D

Answers to any of these questions, and general tips gratefully received
