any pointers for mounting tv on wall ....

ok - about to get a new TV.

At present el cheapo 26" LCD is sitting on top of fire surround - am looking at 32-40 " tv .... what kind of bracket is good ? and wall ?! are we talking castle thick wall ! or what ?

Thickness isn't the important thing...cob walls can be several feet thick but a nightmare to fix to. Just about any brick or block wall will be OK, with stud walls you'll need to find the uprights and not use any form of cavity fixing.

It's all about using the correct screws/bolts for the type of wall you are mounting the bracket on. If you don't know which to use, (and it's not necessarily going to be those provided), you probably shouldn't be doing the job .
 
Just bought a bracket for my 40" Tv from the bay,Would be interested to know what the procedure is for fixing them to the Tv?

The bracket i have bought looks like this


Do you just mount the "arms" of the bracket to the Tv and bolt the rest of it to the wall then slide the arms onto it?
